ALL ROADS LEAD TO MURDER

Murder Mystery Dinner Party Game for 12-16 players

We are in Britannica, far flung province of the overstretched Roman Empire. The year is AD79, if it pleases the Gods, and retired senator Revoltus Brattius should have much to be satisfied about. His newly built palatial villa is almost complete, just awaiting finishing touches to the mosaics, and he has planned for a celebratory feast to be held in the freshly stuccoed dining room. But this is not to be, for after sampling some of the food laid out for his feast, Revoltus Brattius and his favourite dog Caconofix lie dead on the stone floor, poisoned.

One of those invited to the celebratory feast (you and your guests) must have murdered the retired senator. You may all have had your reasons... A tribune has been sent to the garrison fort for reinforcements, if the guilty party is not discovered by the time he returns, all of you will be dragged off to face summary Roman justice at the Basilica. By the end of the game, the murderer must be found!

Roman legionnaire and lady friends

This is an original murder mystery game supplied by email as ready to print Microsoft Word pdf files.  The immersive game has interesting plot lines and plenty to keep players guessing 'whodunit' right until the very end.  Running time is 1½ - 2 hours.

The files supplied will print character booklet scripts for your guests, invitations, setup instructions, name tags, documents, various evidence, a choice of two murder confessions, and extras to help turn your venue into a Roman era crime scene.

You will need 60-70 sheets of printer paper and a stapler.

The characters:

Quinta Senshal (F):

Fie! Your man lies dead, poisoned among the lees of the food so carefully laid out for your betrothal feast.  How could the Gods allow this to happen to you?

Mella Drahma (F):

A servant at Villa Delapidata, you are a proud Britannic. Your tribe has been subjugated by the Romans, you try not to be bitter about your lot in life...

Bo Dissia (F):

You are a recent arrival at Villa Delapidata, with a recommendation from the Londinium Agency for Excellent Servants and Slaves. Surely you would take pains to please your new masters - but there is a gleam in your eye...

Sabina Pleasure (F):

You are (or were) private secretary to Revoltus Brattius, who now lies dead. You efficiently organised most aspects of his life. There are those convinced you just as efficiently organised his death.

Mysteria Fortunia (F):

You are a soothsayer and mistress of the mystic, a practicing practitioner in the art of divination. But your knowledge can be a double edged sword. Is that danger that lies ahead...?

Livia Brattius (F):

You have always been a dutiful and loving daughter, but your father Revoltus went too far with his choice of man for you to marry. You would rather face death than go along with his wishes...

Mona Lotta (F):

14-16 players

Captured by pirates and sold into slavery, you are a long way from home. You would do anything to find a way back to the family and friends you miss so much. Anything at all...

Pretenshus Brattius (M):

You are the son of Revoltus Brattius, not that it did you much good. Your father never appreciated your talents with tablet and lyre, but now he is dead, and will never hear the acclaim that cannot be far ahead.

General Motus (M):

Lean and grizzled, you have endured a lifetime of military campaigns, surviving and rising to the rank of Leader of Legions. There are plenty scheming to undermine you - if they dare...

Ascapus Fugitivius (M):

An artisan and free living workman, you are employed putting the finishing touches to Villa Delapidata. A follower of the stoic philosophy, you are a man of peace, never one to pick an argument. Yet, perhaps not surprisingly, most will avoid picking a fight with you...

Tam McShanty (M):

Och Aye! You are a rabble raising Scoti and proud of it! You run the kitchen at Villa Delapidata producing the sort of food Revoltus couldn't get enough of. Surely it's not your fault the Sassenach's been poisoned...

Declinus Anruinus (M):

You are a prestigious architect to the Roman Army, a builder of viaducts and bridges. You have been staying as Revoltus's house guest while the fininshing touches are put to his villa. Maybe just as well he didn't get to see the finished product...

Lucius Moralis (M):

You are the head slave at Villa Delapidata, and as such in charge of all the other slaves and servants. It's not an easy job, and Revoltus could be revolting...

Maximus Girthus (M):

14-16 players

You are the owner of the Golden Goblet, the best quality eating house for miles around. If only everyone else shared the same opinion...

Two extra characters:

Venus Aphrodite (F):

You are the Goddess Aphrodite, usually a heavenly resident of Mount Olympus, but King Jupiter has seen fit to transport you in human form to attend this feast...

Apollo Apollonius (M):

You are the God Apollo, transported down from Mount Olympus in human form to satisfy the whim of your father Jupiter, King of the Gods, all praise to him! You must acquit yourself well among these humans...
